The Mozambique Gallery is devoted to minerals from the classic district of Alto Ligonha in Mozambique. There is a nice selection of pegmatitic gem minerals including elbaites of different colors, gemmy spodumenes and scapolites and others. Naipa Mine, Alto Ligonha (Zambezia, Mozambique)

Loose singly terminated lustrous crystal of apparently dark green elbaite with a transparent multiple termination. However when backlit the lower two thirds are transparent and of a dark blue color (indicolite variety) with a yellowish band as can be seen in the pictures. Undamaged.

Loose singly terminated transparent crystal of gemmy yellow scapolite. The bottom area presents tiny black inclusions oriented parallel to the c-axis. Termination is undamaged but there is some damage at bottom back as can be seen in the pictures.

This specimen has been pictured at Tom Moore´s "What´s New" section in the Mineralogical Record website (7/18/2005) and comes with a Mineralogical Record label.
