WMISC-10/62 - Hematite and magnesite

Brumado (Bahia, Brazil)

Brumado, a classic locality known for its great uvite and dravite tourmalines, also provides a number of other interesting species. Hematite, being common elsewhere, is however a rarely seen mineral in the current market when it comes from Brumado. This specimen is a cluster of flat highly lustrous black crystals with nice triangular surface features. There are a couple of white magnesite crystals to 5 mm. across and a partial coating of tiny magnesite crystals at back. Quite clean of damage with just a few tiny nicks on the edges.
