WALPS-06/49 - Hematite, rutile and adularia Cavradi, Val Tavetsch (Graubunden, Switzerland) Hematite "iron roses" are one of the most sought after minerals from the Alps, found in a number of localities. However many collectors consider above all the classic hematite with epitactic rutile crystals coming from the Cavradi Gorge, near the village of Sedrun, at the Upper Rhin Valley, Switzerland. This specimen presents several highly lustrous black crystals of hematite nicely striated with terminated red crystals of epitactic rutile to about 3 mm. long and partly corroded adularia associated. The small blade at top as seen in the top right picture is not terminated, otherwise completely undamaged and quite nice. 3.4x2.1x1.7 - Sold |
